Well, hi there! Thanks for stopping by. Welcome to “One Prickly Pear”. Let me introduce myself. I am a recent graduate from culinary school but I’ve been cooking since I was about 8 years old, give or take a few years. Let me tell you how it all started. Once upon a time, my mom decided to put me on lunch duty. “What exactly does that mean?”, you may ask. Well, it means I had to make lunch for my sister and I to take to school. I do remember whining about for a few days, but that is exactly when my love for cooking and food started. As I got older, I was no longer in charge of only lunch for my sister and I. I was soon making breakfast for the entire family. Quite the accomplishment for a 12-year-old if I may add. Since then, the kitchen sort of became my territory. It became the one place where I felt truly comfortable and truly empowered.
Fast forward to today, I am a full-time professional cook by day and blogger by night. With the help of this blog, I hope to teach you all a few tricks of the food industry so that you too can cook restaurant-quality meals for your family and friends. Don’t be scared! If I can do it, so can you. I will be sharing with you recipes as unique and unusual as prickly pears (click here if you have no idea what a prickly pear is).
